15 June of 2013 embark a very exiciting experience for me as I shoot a GUN for the first time... On 9 to 14 June 2013, I have attend RELA CORPS basic course. I'm felt very nervous actually because all I've think about is getting yelled at, go to marching all day, forced to woke up early and its dicipline, dicipline, and dicipline but there's one thing that keeps me motivated, it's the allowance. For RM267 per week, I think its worth all the hell march.. Before I attend this course, I didn't know much about the RELA CORPS. All I know about RELA is they will wear an orange beret. Their job is to guard a place and parking lots and that's all I know. A day when I was walking around the training facility with my friend, I've spotted a shooting range with the target 100m far. This one really opens my mind, I didn't know that RELA shoot like the army and police. Well guess what, 2 days later we were allowed to shoot.. I was like, "YEeHOWW" for the first time on my life I will shoot a GUN.

M16A1 with 30 round STANAG magazine on the table |
A day before the shooting begins, we were taught on using weapons. In this case, its the good old M16. RELA Corps has been using the Vietnam-era M16A1 as their main service rifle, its oldschool, but its still looks badass to me. M16 has been my favorite rifle since I was a kid. I still remember when I used to have a toy M16 and used to shoot it to my imaginary enemy when I was a kid. In the weapon class, a senior officers show to us the M16 and tell us the functionality of this weapon and on how to use it. The M16's were put on the table for us to examine it. We were allowed to touch it. And this has become the holy moments for me as I hold it for the 1st time. It's not heavy though, weighing in around 3 kg.

I'm detail number 11 |
With the knowledge I have, I load and unload the mag and pull and push the charging handle like a pro. A trainer seems to be impressed and told me to strip the weapon. I was excited but seriously, I only know how to used it not field stripping it. But the trainer just keep telling me to try it, well here goes nothing. I know how to open it ( I push a small button at lower receiver ) took out the charging handle and that's it no further than that. Anyway lets skip to shooting part.
And here goes, the day has come. I'm going to the shooting range to waste some bullets. Unexpectedly, someone had shoot beside me when I still loading the weapon. The sound is so damn loud, I was shocked. And embarassingly this make me scared to pull the trigger.
In the name of the mercyfull God I pulled the trigger. I was shivering, and God Almighty the sound is soo loud. I shoot using my right hand and it supposed to sound louder than the left ear but the its louder on the left ear of course. The sound may differ within range. In close range it sound like a big firecracker. In closer range when you shoot it, you will hear a metallic spring like sound. In the shooting range we were shooting like crazy, some people shoot the hills, some shoot trees instead of target. It was crazy and I'm questioning myself did they even know what the target is ?? It was fun but unfortunately we were not allowed to fire in full auto. Said that we were still youngsters that probably will kill someone. Yeah whatever....Okay thats it for this time, I'm going to tell more about the rifle tracing its history back to its AR-15 origins in future post...Later !!!
